One of my favorite movies.  Yes, there’s cute boys…but the scenery, wow.  Stunning.  It really makes you understand the allure of fly fishing…

When I first decided to come to Penn State, my dad was so excited…NOT because of our football team (ahem…did you hear that?), but because of George Harvey, Joe Humphries and Fisherman’s Paradise.  George, the teacher and mentor…Joe the student and protege…Fisherman’s Paradise, the breathtakingly beautiful spot along Spring Creek to which Pennsylvania fishermen make a pilgrimmage for world-class fly fishing.

So you’d think, that with my dad’s enthusiasm about fly fishing, that I would have visited this spot at some point during my 19 years living in Central PA.  After all, it is only a 15 minute drive from downtown State College…and it is world class, so why not check it out?  Nope, up until this past May, I had never been there.  I’ve passed the road sign numerous times, but never turned down the hill…until a client wanted to have their family portraits shot there.  They met when they were in college and fishing at this spot was part of their relationship from the very beginning, so it was only natural that they be photographed here with their three year old son (who is extremely well-versed in dinosaurs, BTW).  I was so thankful for the experience…it was quite special for me.  Truly, this is about as gorgeous of a backdrop as you can get…

Disclaimer: I’s not technically Fisherman’s Paradise – – it was about a mile downstream.  But I think it is close enough…

Next up on the “I can’t believe I’ve never done this” list…hike Mount Nittany. And I call myself a Penn Stater…ha!
